Southeast Missouri State University Press

SEMO Press Closing

Hi folks–

We’ve known about this for a few months, now, but have been busy doing our best to wrap things up as gently as possible for our writers. Our university made the decision to close Southeast Missouri State University Press, effective June 30. We’ll still be shipping orders through June (though you’ll likely notice books disappearing from our online catalog, or listed as out of stock, as we get books to our authors and/or future presses who might be taking on some of our titles).

The news, of course, was heartbreaking. It hasn’t really had a chance to sink in for me, personally, as I’ve been working non-stop over the last few months doing all the work that needs to be done. We’ve had a great run and published a lot of books we’re incredibly proud of.

As I mentioned above, at least a few of our books have found new homes (with hopefully more to come), and there is an announcement pending with regards to a new host for the Proud to Be series.

Otherwise, if you’ve ever submitted to us, bought one of our books or journals, found a copy of anything we published on the sidewalk and read it, recommended one of our books to a friend, or in any other way shape or form participated in what we’ve been doing–from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Sincerely,
James Brubaker
